The second day of IPL mega auction will start at 3:30 pm. On Monday, franchises will bid on 493 players for 132 spots. All eyes will be on African batsman Faf du Plessis, Indian all-rounder Washington Sundar and Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

A total of 72 players were bought on the first day, of which the most expensive was Rishabh Pant, bought by Lucknow for Rs 27 crore. While Shreyas Iyer was sold to Punjab Kings for Rs 26.75 crore. Kolkata Knight Riders bid Rs 23.75 crore for all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer. Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja will once again be seen playing together in Chennai Super Kings.

Top 5 players in the auction on the first day

On the first day of the auction, all five top players were Indians. Wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant has become the most expensive player in IPL history. Shreyas Iyer, who made Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) the champion last season, was bought by Punjab Kings for Rs 26.75 crore. Shreyas had played an inning of 130 runs on 57 balls in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy on 23 November.

Venkatesh Iyer has been included in the team again by Kolkata. KKR has bought him for Rs 23.75 crore. With this he has become the third most expensive Indian player in IPL history. Punjab bought Yuzvendra Chahal for Rs 18 crore. With this he became the most expensive spinner in IPL history. Chahal is the top wicket taker in IPL history. He made his debut in IPL in 2013, from then till 2024 he took 205 wickets in 160 matches.

Openers Warner, Bairstow and Padikkal were not sold

Two capped batters remained unscored in the third set. No team bid for Australian batsman David Warner and Indian batsman Devdutt Padikkal in the auction. African captain Aiden Markram has been bought by Punjab for the base price of Rs 2 crore. No one bought England opener Jonny Bairstow. Last season, David Warner played for Delhi, Padikkal played for Lucknow and Bairstow played for Punjab.
