1. Inauguration of Rising North-East Investors Summit 2025
On 23 May, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Rising North East Investors Summit 2025 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.
The purpose of the Rising North-East Investors Summit is to highlight opportunities available in the North East.
- The two -day summit will have Minister Level Sessions, Business to Government (B2G), Business to Business (B2B) meetings.
- This summit is being done to bring domestic and global investors on one platform for the northeastern states.
- The summit plans to promote investment in sectors like tourism, agriculture, food processing, health, education and energy.
- The Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) was Rs 9.26 lakh crore in 2023-24 of these sectors of North East States.
- It increased by 10.8% from 2014-15 to 2021-22 while the average of the country was 8.1% during this period.
- The 8 states of the Northeast, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Manipur, Nagaland, Mizoram, Tripura and Sikkim are called ‘Ashtalakshmi’.
- Ashtalakshmi Festival was organized in December 2024 to promote economic opportunity in areas such as North-East handicrafts, agricultural products and tourism.
2. President Draupadi Murmu gave 39 Gallantry Awards of the first phase
On 22 May, President Draupadi Murmu gave 39 Gallantry Awards of the first phase at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
President Murmu Major Ashish Dhonchak’s mother Kamala and Havildar Rohit Kumar’s mother arrived to honor Krishna Devi.
- These awards are given in honor of those who have extraordinary bravery, dedication and sacrifices during duty.
- The President provided 6 Kirti Chakras, with 4 posthumous.
- During this period, 33 valor chakras were also provided, including 7 posthumous.
- Kirti Chakra is India’s second largest peaceful valor award.

1. Supreme Court’s Rajasthan government reprimanded in students suicide case
Today, on 23 May, the student suicide case was heard in the Supreme Court. During this period, the Supreme Court also described the cases of students suicide in Kota as serious and reprimanded the Rajasthan government.
A bench of Justice JB Pardiwala and Justice R. Mahadevan in the Supreme Court said, “So far this year, 14 students have committed suicide in Kota. What are you doing about it as a state? Why are students committing suicide in Kota itself? Have you not considered it as a state. ‘ The Supreme Court made this comment during the hearing of the body of the student in Kota and the suicide case of the student of IIT Kharagpur. The court has sought a response from the Rajasthan government in this matter. The next hearing will be held on 14 July.
2. Ban on admission of foreign students at Harvard University
The US Donald Trump administration has banned admission to foreign students of Harvard University. US Homeland Security Secretary Christie NoM ordered the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to cancel the Certification of Harvard Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) with immediate effect.
America’s Homeland Security Secretary Christie Nom has sent a two -page letter to Harvard.
Nom said that if Harvard wants to continue admission to foreign students, then within 72 hours, he will have to give information about foreign students entered in Harvard in the last 5 years. It also includes audio-video footage of any miscalcist or violent activity of students.
This action on university administration is taking place due to non -compliance of the US government’s instructions. Indeed, Harvard is accused of promoting violence in campus, promoting anti-Jewish spirit and creating a synergy with the Communist Party of China.
3. Result of military school entrance exam released
The National Testing Agency i.e. NTA has released the result of All India Sainik School Entrance Test (AISSEE). Students who attended this entrance test can check the results by visiting its official website exam.nta.ac.in/aissee/. To log in, you can check the result using the application number and date of birth.
The All India Sainik School Entrance Examination was held on 5 April 2025. The exam for class 6th was conducted from 2 pm to 4.30 pm and for class 9th from 2 pm to 5 pm.
