On Tuesday, Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma declared Mizoram the country’s first full literate state. He made this announcement at an event at Mizoram University. Union Minister of State for Education Jayant Chaudhary was also present on the spot.
Completed milestone under ullas scheme
The literacy rate in the state has reached 98.2% under the Understanding of Lifleng Learning for All in Society (Ullas) Scheme. Mizoram has also crossed the 95% benchmark of the Ministry of Education. Explain that to declare a state a full litterate, he has to cross the fixed benchmark of the Ministry of Education.
Under the New India Literacy Program, 3,026 unknown people were identified in the state. Out of this, 1,692 were ready to study. 292 Volunteer Teachers, Students and Resource Person’s team connected them to studies.

Chief Minister Lalduhoma said that this achievement is not an end but a new beginning. Now the state has to take literacy from basic reading and writing to digital, financial and holistic education.
Mizoram became the 23rd state of India
On 20 February 1987, Mizoram became the 23rd state of the country. In the 2011 census, it was the third most literate state in the country with 91.33% literacy rate. Now it is at number 1 with 98.2% literacy. It was declared a full literate state after the Evolution of the State Education Department.
Literacy is determined by writing, reading, adding
According to the Ministry of Education, a person is considered literate when he can write and read at least 1 language. You can also perform simple calculations of mathematics.
