The Gujarat Titans is ranked first with 16 points under the captaincy of Shubman Gill in the IPL 2025 points table.

Gavaskar said that apart from Gill, other potential captains like Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer will take at least two years to get ready. Pant is currently captaining Lucknow Super Giants while Iyer is captaining Punjab Kings in this IPL.
Shubman Gill is the third top scorer in the IPL this season. He has scored 508 runs so far.

Gavaskar said, right now there are 3 main contenders for the Indian captaincy, Gill, Iyer and Pant. Of these, they are the best gill because whenever a decision is made, he immediately asks the umpire. However, Pant is behind the stump and he is also well involved in all these plains. Iyer has also been fantastic. All three have captained in a positive way.

IPL will start again from tomorrow
Tomorrow i.e. on May 17, the IPL will start again. The Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals matches were suspended in Dharamshala on 8 May amidst India-Pakistan tension. Later, after a ceasefire between the two countries, it was rejected and reduced to May 17. Tomorrow Bangalore and Kolkata will be played in Chinnaswamy Stadium Bangalore.
