INAUGURATION
1. Union Minister Piyush Goyal inaugurated the 43rd India International Trade Fair: Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal inaugurated the 43rd India International Trade Fair (IITF) at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on November 14 through video conferencing. Many countries will participate in this program which will last for 14 days. These include China, Egypt, Iran, South Korea, Thailand, Turkey and United Arab Emirates.
The theme for organizing the 43rd India International Trade Fair is ‘Viksit Bharat @2047’.
- For the first five days from today i.e. from 14th to 18th November, this fair is open only for traders.
- At the same time, it will be open to the general public from November 19 to November 27.
- Indian Trade Promotion Organization (ITPO) has tied up with Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) for tickets for the fair.
- The fair ticket for adults will be Rs 500 on business days.
- Whereas, the ticket price for children has been kept at Rs 200.
- Entry will be free for senior citizens and persons with disabilities on both business and non-business days.
- The timing of the fair will be from 10 am to 7:30 pm.

2. PM Modi will receive Dominica’s highest honor: The government of the Caribbean country Dominica has announced that it will honor Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the ‘Dominica Award of Honor’ this month. It is Dominica’s highest national award. This award is being given to the Prime Minister in recognition of PM Modi’s contribution to Dominica during the COVID-19 pandemic and his dedication to strengthening the partnership between the two countries.
Sylvanie Burton, President of the Commonwealth of Dominica, will present the award to PM Modi during the India-CARICOM Summit to be held in Georgetown, Guyana from November 19 to 21.
- In February 2021, Prime Minister Modi sent 70 thousand doses of AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine to Dominica, Dominica also gave this vaccine to its neighboring Caribbean countries.
- This award is being given for Prime Minister Modi’s cooperation in the health infrastructure of Dominica.
- Papua New Guinea has also honored PM Modi with the country’s highest honour. He was given ‘Grand Companion of the Order of Logohu’ in May 2023.
- France has also given its highest honor to PM Modi. On July 13, 2023, France honored PM Modi with the ‘Grand Cross of the Legion of Honour’.
- On 25 August 2023, PM Modi received ‘The Grand Cross of the Order of Honor’ from Greece.
- At the same time, PM Modi was honored with ‘King Hamad Order of the Renaissance’ by the King of Bahrain in the year 2019.

3. Indian Navy to conduct fourth edition of coastal defense exercise ‘Sea Vigil-24’: The Indian Navy is scheduled to conduct the fourth edition of the ‘All India’ coastal defense exercise ‘Sea Vigil-24’ on 20 and 21 November 2024. Indian Navy gave this information on 14 November. It will include 06 ministries and 21 organizations or agencies.
One of the objectives of this exercise is to increase awareness about maritime security.
- Sea Vigil has been designed in the year 2018 to strengthen coastal security after 26/11 Mumbai terrorist attacks.
- The Coastal Defense and Security Readiness Evaluation (CDSRE) phase of the exercise is being conducted by naval officers from all coastal states and union territories (including Lakshadweep and Andaman and Nicobar Islands) from late October 2024.
- In this, the entire coastal defense and security infrastructure is audited.
- This year, for the first time, officials from the National Security Council Secretariat will also be part of the CDSRE teams.
- Besides, employees associated with State Marine Police, Coast Guard, Customs, Fisheries Department will also be included in it.
- This time the participation of Indian Army and Air Force in the exercise will be on a larger level.
- The exercise will focus on strengthening the protection of coastal infrastructure such as ports, oil rigs, single point moorings, cable landing points and coastal populations.

4. Trump appointed Tulsi Gabbard as America’s Intelligence Chief: America’s newly elected President Donald Trump is making appointments to important posts in his government. Trump has given the responsibility of Director of National Intelligence to Indian-origin Tulsi Gabbard.
Donald Trump announced the appointment of Tulsi Gabbard as Director of National Intelligence after meeting with Biden on Wednesday, November 13.
- Tulsi will assume office after the start of Trump’s second term.
- She will replace Avril Haynes.
- Tulsi Gabbard (43) was America’s first Hindu MP.
- Gabbard began her political career in Hawaii at the age of 21.
- She was an MP from the Democratic Party for 4 times.
- Tulsi was earlier the leader of Biden’s Democratic Party. He joined the Republican Party only last month.
- Apart from Tulsi, Trump has given important responsibilities to two other people – Florida Senator Marco Rubio has been made the Foreign Minister and Matt Gaetz has been made the Attorney General.

5. CISF’s first women’s battalion gets approval from the Centre: On November 13, the Central Government approved the formation of a women’s battalion of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). More than 1,000 women will include in this battalion. In any emergency, this battalion will provide security like commandos.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday, November 13 approved the creation of a women’s battalion of CISF.
- At present there are 12 CISF battalions in the country, but there is not a single women battalion among them.
- This will be the first battalion, which will have only women.
- The women soldiers included in the battalion will be deployed like commandos in the security of the airport, Delhi Metro and VIPs. As per the need, they will be deployed at other places also.
- On the occasion of 53rd CISF Day on March 5, 2022, Amit Shah had proposed to form a women’s battalion.
- Now it has got official approval from the ministry.
- CISF will soon start the recruitment process for the first all-women battalion.
- At present the number of women in CISF is about 7%.

6. Shaheen Afridi again becomes number-1 ODI bowler: Pakistan’s fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi has again reached number-1 in the ICC ODI bowling rankings. ICC released the latest rankings on Wednesday, 13 November. Babar Azam continues to top the batting rankings. Along with this, Pakistani players are on top in ODI batting and bowling rankings.
Afridi had earlier achieved the number-1 bowling ranking during the ICC ODI World Cup held in India last year.
- Afridi recently performed brilliantly in the ODI series against Australia, taking 8 wickets in three matches at an economy rate of 3.76.

History of 14 November: On this day in 1889, India’s first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was born. In India this day is celebrated as Children’s Day. His father, Motilal Nehru, was a prosperous barrister and mother Swarooprani was a skilled housewife. Nehru completed his schooling from Harrow and college education from Trinity College, Cambridge (London). After this he completed his law degree from Cambridge University. Jawaharlal Nehru returned to India in 1912 and started practicing law. He married Kamla Nehru in 1916. Joined the Home Rule League in 1917. His real training in politics began two years later in 1919 when he came in contact with Mahatma Gandhi. At that time Mahatma Gandhi started a campaign against the Rowlatt Act. Nehru held the post of Congress President 6 times (Lahore 1929, Lucknow 1936, Faizpur 1937, Delhi 1951, Hyderabad 1953 and Kalyani 1954). Nehru propounded the principle of Panchsheel. When India got independence in 1947, when voting was held in the Congress for the future Prime Minister, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Acharya Kripalani got the maximum votes. However, at the behest of Mahatma Gandhi, both of them withdrew their names and Jawaharlal Nehru was made the Prime Minister. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru became the first Prime Minister of independent India in 1947.
Nehru became the Prime Minister of India in 1947 after independence and remained in this position till his death on May 27, 1964.
