Harry Brook was bought by Delhi Capitals for Rs 6.25 crore in the mega auction.
England cricketer Harry Brook has been banned for two seasons from the Indian Premier League (IPL). He was banned under the new retention policy of IPL. Brook is the first player banned by this rule.
26 -year -old Harry Brook withdrew his name 4 days before the league. BCCI implemented a new retention policy on 1 November 2024.
An official of BCCI told PTI,
A rule was made on withdrawal of names on the last occasion and has been implemented. The ban on Brook will be applicable for the 2025 and 2026 seasons.

Replacement rules of new policy Under the replacement rule of the new retention policy, foreign players will now have to register in the mega auction to participate in the IPL. If not registered, they will not be allowed to participate in the next mini auction.
If a foreign player withdraws from the tournament after being sold in the auction, he will be banned for the next 2 seasons. That is, they will not be able to participate in the next 2 auction.
