The International Cricket Council (ICC) has released the schedule of the Champions Trophy tour on Saturday. It does not contain the names of cities of Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK).
Earlier, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had released the schedule of Champions Trophy tour on social media on Thursday. This included 3 cities of PoK, Hunza, Skardu and Muzaffarabad.
PCB has got the hosting rights of the Champions Trophy to be held in February 2025. Its trophy tour has started from Islamabad on Saturday. Apart from seven cities of Pakistan, the trophy will go to 7 cricketing nations. This trophy will remain in India from 15 to 26 January.
ICC posted and released the schedule, it does not include PoK cities
PoK had 3 cities in PCB’s schedule PCB had shared a post regarding the trophy tour on its social media handle on Thursday. PCB had written, ‘The tour will start from Islamabad on 16th November. The trophy will travel through many cities and also to beautiful places like Skardu, Hunza and Muzaffarabad in PoK.
BCCI objects to PoK cities A source had told news agency ANI, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah had expressed objection to PCB’s announcement of holding the Champions Trophy tour in PoK. Shah had raised this matter before the ICC. He had said that there should be no political interference in this matter.
Questions on hosting Champions Trophy, 3 reasons 1. India refused to go to Pakistan The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has refused to play the Champions Trophy in Pakistan a few days ago. ICC had given this information to Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) through official mail. 2. PCB will not adopt hybrid model BCCI wants Team India’s matches to be held in UAE or Dubai, although PCB has already made it clear that it will not hold the Champions Trophy in the hybrid model. Hybrid model means that in the Champions Trophy, the matches against India should be played at neutral venues and the rest of the tournament should be played in Pakistan.
3. UAE-South Africa can be options Pakistan may also be deprived of hosting the Champions Trophy to be held in February next year. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has given official information about this to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). Pakistan has sought advice from its government on this matter.
Pakistan’s newspaper The Dawn quoted a PCB source as saying – If Pakistan is stripped of hosting, it may refuse to play in the tournament. If this happens then South Africa and UAE can be given hosting rights. Due to strained political relations, the Indian team has not played in Pakistan since 2008.

November 15: ICC asked BCCI to explain the reason for not sending Team India to Pakistan. ICC has sought a written reply from BCCI for not sending the Indian team to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy. India did not go to Pakistan in Asia Cup, hybrid model was adopted

Pakistan team came to India for ODI World Cup Pakistan team came to India last year to play the ODI World Cup. Then the match between India and Pakistan was played in Ahmedabad on 14 October. - Pakistan’s last tour of India in 2013: Pakistan last toured India in 2012-13. In that tour, a bilateral series of 3 ODI and 2 T-20 matches was played. Pakistan won the ODI series 2-1, while the T-20 series was tied at 1-1.
India is not going to Pakistan after the terrorist attack in Mumbai The Indian team has not toured Pakistan since 2007–08. After the terrorist attacks on Mumbai in 2008, the Indian government refused to play cricket in Pakistan. Since then both the teams play only in ICC and ACC tournaments. Since 2013, both the teams have played 13 ODIs and 8 T20 matches at neutral venues. There was also a terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan team in Pakistan during 2009.
