Former Australian fast bowler Glenn McGrath has advised Australian players to put pressure on Virat Kohli. The 54-year-old veteran said, ‘Kohli, who is out of form, will be under pressure due to his poor start. Kangaroos should target them. “After the loss to New Zealand, Australia now have a lot of ammunition against them.”
India’s tour of Australia starts from 22nd November. The first match will be played in Perth. Team India has to play a 5-Test series there and this series is important from the point of view of the World Test Championship. India will have to win 4 out of 5 matches to reach the final on its own.
Kohli did not play in New Zealand series
“Put pressure on Kohli and see if he is ready for it or not,” McGrath told Australian media house Fox Cricket.
Fox said that Kohli, who has been the leader of Indian batting for more than a decade, is struggling with poor form. His average in 6 matches this year has been 22.72. Even in the New Zealand Test series, Kohli could not do anything special. Kept struggling with bad form.
Now Shubman Gill, who was injured before the series in Australia, has been ruled out of the first Test. It is not clear yet whether captain Rohit Sharma will play the first test or not. There will be pressure on Kohli to lead the batting lineup.
McGrath’s warning – Too much aggression can backfire. McGrath has also warned his players that targeting Kohli too aggressively can also cause harm. It is possible that Kohli will come out of the pressure and stand up, stand firm because Kohli is such a player whose form is going bad, it is going on, but if he stands firm, he will stand firm.
Let us tell you that Kohli has scored runs at an impressive average of 54.08 in the last four tours of Australia.
