Zimbabwe defeated Ireland by 49 runs in the first ODI. Ireland chose bowling in Harare on Friday. Zimbabwe scored 299 runs losing 5 wickets. Player of the Match Brian Bennett scored 169 runs. In response, the Irish team was all out for 250 runs.

Blessing Mujarbani took 4 wickets in bowling from Zimbabwe and Richard Nagarwa took 3 wickets. Not a single player from Ireland imposed a fifty. Curtis Camphor scored the highest 44 runs.
