Nitish is India’s top scorer so far in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.
I wanted to prove people wrong about my Test cricket skills by scoring a century.
Indian all-rounder Nitish Reddy said this in the press conference. During the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, former players had said that a young player who has just played IPL cannot perform in such a big series.
21-year-old Nitish said on Sunday, I have been working hard on my batting and bowling for the last two-three years and now I am getting results. So far, Reddy has scored 293 runs in 6 innings of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and batted at an average of around 59. He is India’s top scorer in the series.
Father resigned from job for me: Reddy After the match, when the Australian media asked about the role of his father Mutyalu, Nitish said, my father had served in the central government for 25 years and when I was nothing, I had not even played state-level cricket. The first person who believed in me was my father.
He became emotional after scoring a century. He believed me and resigned from his job for me. He used to take me to the ground and gym. He has made a lot of sacrifices. If I have to tell about him, time will not be enough, but I am very grateful to have a father like him.
After Nitish scored a century on the third day of the Melbourne Test, his father Mutyala Reddy, who was present in the stands, cried.
“I have been watching Virat since childhood” Nitish said about Virat Kohli, I have been watching Virat since childhood. He is my idol. When he scored a century in Perth, I was at the non-striker’s end, I was very happy. Now, when I scored a century he appreciated me. When he talked to me, that was the best moment for me. Virat said, you played brilliantly, you brought the team back into the match.

I am here to give my 100 percent: Reddy When Nitish was asked about the changes in his life in the last one month, he said, I am here to give my 100 percent. I think for you guys, it’s like a month or two. For me, the last two-three years have been like this.
Nitish Reddy made a comeback in the Melbourne Test by scoring 114 runs in the first innings, taking India’s score to 369. Whereas at one time India’s score was 191 for 6 wickets. When Reddy was asked a question about being the team’s top scorer, he said, I helped my team in difficult situations. That was a special century for me and my father also.
Nitish was out on the fourth day after scoring 114 runs on 189 balls.
Throwdown experts kept in IPL-2024 Nitish Reddy had hired side-arm throwdown experts before the start of the 2024 IPL and practiced against them on balls with a speed of 145 from a distance of about 18 yards.
