Afghanistan defeated Zimbabwe by a huge margin of 232 runs in the second ODI. Zimbabwe won the toss and chose bowling in Harare on Thursday. Afghanistan scored 286 runs losing 6 wickets with the help of a century by Sediqullah Atal. In reply, Zimbabwe could score only 54 runs.
Allah Ghazanfar and Navid Zadran took 3 wickets each from Afghanistan. By winning the second ODI, Afghanistan took a 1-0 lead in the series. The first ODI was inconclusive. The third ODI will be played in Harare on 21st December.
Sediqullah Atal received the Player of the Match award.
Afghanistan’s strong start After losing the toss, Afghanistan team came to bat first and got a strong start from Sediqullah and Abdul Malik. Both batted for 35 overs and made an opening partnership of 191 runs. Malik was out after scoring 84 runs and Atal was out after scoring 104 runs. Both of them were sent to the pavilion by Newman Nyamhuri.

Martyrdom brought near 300 After a strong opening partnership, Zimbabwe lost wickets early. Azmatullah Omarzai could score only 5, Ikram Alikhil 5 and Rahmat Shah could score only 1 run. In the end, captain Hasmatullah Shahidi scored 29 runs and Mohammad Nabi scored 18 runs, taking the score to 286 runs. Newman Nyamahuri took 3 wickets from Zimbabwe. Trevor Gwandu got 2 wickets and Richard Ngarwa got 1 wicket. Four bowlers of the team did not get any wicket.
Ben Curran out on zero in the first ODI The Zimbabwe team, which was chasing the target of 287 runs, suffered a setback in the very first over. Debutant Ben Curran could not open his account even after playing 6 balls and was run out. After him T Marumani could score only 3, Dion Myers 1 and captain Craig Irwin could score only 4 runs.
Shaun Williams tried to handle the innings by scoring 16 runs and Sikandar Raza scored 19 runs. As soon as both were out, the team once again fell apart. Afghanistan bowled out the home team for 54 runs in just 17.5 overs and won the match by 232 runs. Allah Ghazanfar and Navid Zadran took 3 wickets each from Afghanistan. Fazalhaq Farooqui took 2 wickets and Azmatullah Omarzai took 1 wicket. A batter runout also occurred.

Afghanistan won the T-20 series 2-1 Earlier, Afghanistan had won the 3rd T-20 series between the two teams by 2-1. Zimbabwe won the first T20 match by 4 wickets. Afghanistan then made a comeback in the series by winning the second match by 50 runs and the third match by 3 wickets. The third ODI of the series will be held on December 21, then both the teams will play the first Test from December 26.
