1. Tabla player Ustad Zakir Hussain passes away
World renowned tabla player and Padma Vibhushan Ustad Zakir Hussain passed away on the morning of 16 December. He was suffering from a disease called Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis and was admitted to a hospital in San Francisco for the last two weeks. Zakir’s father’s name was Ustad Allarakha Qureshi and mother’s name was Bavi Begum. Ustad Allarakha was also a famous tabla player.
Zakir Hussain was born on 9 March 1951 in Mumbai. Ustad Zakir Hussain was awarded Padma Shri in 1988, Padma Bhushan in 2002 and Padma Vibhushan in 2023.
2. President of Sri Lanka met PM Modi
Sri Lankan President Anura Kumar Dissanayake met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Hyderabad House in Delhi on 16 December. President Draupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi received Dissanayake at Rashtrapati Bhavan. During this, the Joint Defense Forces gave a guard of honor to the President of Sri Lanka.
This is Dissanayake’s first foreign visit after becoming President. He is on a state visit to India from 15 December to 17 December.

1. Vacancy for 305 posts of Assistant Sub Inspector in BPSSC
Bihar Police Subordinate Service Commission (BPSSC) has invited applications for the posts of Assistant Sub Inspector. Candidates can apply by visiting the official website bpssc.bihar.gov.in. The last date to apply is January 17, 2024. Its notification has been issued on 14 December.
Educational Qualification:
- Must have passed 12th.
- Diploma in Computer from a recognized institute
Age Limit:

2. Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education issued notification for recruitment to the post of teachers.
Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education has released the recruitment for REET-2024 Teacher First, Second and Third Grade. For this, candidates can apply by visiting the official website rajeduboard.rajasthan.gov.in. Applications are starting today from 16th December 2024 and the last date will be 15th January 2025.
Educational Qualification:
Primary level:
12th+ 2 years Diploma/ 4 years BElEd course/ / 2 years Elementary Education Diploma
Junior Level:
- Bachelors Degree+ 2 Years Elementary Diploma OR
- Bachelor’s Degree + B.Ed Special Degree or
- 12th+ B.Ed or B.Sc Education 4 Year Course
Exam Date: 27 February 2025
Selection Process: on retained basis

1. 155th passing out parade of IMA, Army Chief of Nepal took salute
The 155th passing out parade of the Indian Military Academy took place on Saturday. With this the country has got 456 young military officers. A total of 491 Gentleman Cadets i.e. GC were commissioned on this occasion. Of these, 35 cadets were from friendly countries. The salute of this parade was taken by Nepal’s Army Chief General Ashog Raj Sigdel.
2. UP Police Constable Document Verification Admit Card released
Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board has released the admit card for Document Verification and Physical Test of UP Police Constable. Candidates can download the admit card from the official website uppbpb.gov.in. After clearing the physical test and document verification, candidates will have to appear in the medical test.
