The final of the World Chess Championship was played between D Gukesh of India and Ding Liren of China in Singapore.
Indian Grandmaster D Gukesh has won the World Chess Championship title. He has become the youngest player in the world to do so. His age is only 18 years. They defeated defending champion Ding Liren of China 1-0 in the 14th game. Now the score is 7.5-6.5. On Wednesday, in the 13th game of the World Chess Championship, Gukesh had to play a draw after 68 moves.
Gukesh won the 11th game, Liren made a comeback in the 12th. Till Sunday, Gukesh was leading 6-5 after 11 games. Out of 11 games, 8 were drawn, while Gukesh won 2 and Liren won 1. But Liren came back and won the 12th game and leveled the score again. To become champion the player must reach 7.5 points.

Became the youngest world champion Gukesh became the second player from India to become the world champion of chess. Before him, Vishwanathan Anand had become chess champion in 2012. Gukesh became the youngest world champion in chess history, he is just 18 years old. Earlier, he had also won the FIDE Candidates Chess Tournament at the age of 17. Then he also became the youngest player to do so.

Who is D Gukesh?
Gukesh D’s full name is Domaraju Gukesh and he is a resident of Chennai. Gukesh was born on 7 May 2006 in Chennai. He started playing chess at the age of 7. He was initially coached by Bhaskar Nagaiah.
Nagaiah has been an international level chess player and is a home chess tutor in Chennai. After this, Vishwanathan Anand gave coaching to Gukesh along with giving him information about the game. Gukesh’s father is a doctor and mother is a microbiologist by profession.
