The blind Durga has been selected in the Indian women’s blind cricket team. She will join India’s team in the first female T20 Blind World Cup to be held in India from 11 to 25 November. She says that the teacher never supported, she used to deemotive.

Durga Yevale: Travel from struggle to World Cup Born in 2003, Durga started her education from the government school in the village itself. Teacher Nathu Vadukle and father Jhabbu Yevale guided him, after which she reached Betul Hostel and then Padhar Blind School. While studying at Mahesh Blind Welfare Association Hostel of Indore, he was interested in cricket.

In November 2022, at a Blind Cricket Camp held in Indore, Sonu Golkar, President of Cricket Association for the Blind in Madhya Pradesh, recognized his talent and gave him an opportunity to play in the district level team. In the matches played for Indore, he was selected in Madhya Pradesh team based on his performance. Bangalore in 2023, Hubli in 2024 and his outstanding performance in Kerala in 2025, led him to the Indian team.

Three players from Madhya Pradesh in Indian team

  • Deepika TC captain of Karnataka
  • Ganga S Kadam Vice -captain of Maharashtra
  • Durga Yevale, Sushma Patel and Sunita Sarathe are also included in the team from Madhya Pradesh
  • Teams from India, Pakistan, Australia, England, Nepal, Sri Lanka and America will participate
  • A total of 21 league matches, two semi -finals and a final

Durga Boli- Teacher told the family to be blind Durga Yevale told that my family did not know that I am blind. My class teacher told that your vision is less. I could not see on the black board, could not even write. The teacher told at home that it is blind. It should be taught in blind school, it will not be able to study in normal school. After this I studied with Braille script from class VII to Graduation.

Durga told that when my family came to know that I could only see up to six meters, they became worried. He was sad to know that my vision is decreasing. But he gave me courage and said to study and work hard.

I also started worrying what I will do now, my vision is becoming less. I thought how would I be able to do in future when I would be completely blind. Earlier my vision was 40, but now it has reduced and I can see only up to 6 meters.

Now I think there is no shortage in me Blind cricket has three categories- B1, B2 and B3 … B1 consists of those who are completely blind. B2 are those that can see up to four meters and B3 are those that can see up to six meters.

I have been selected from the district to the India team. Now I will play the World Cup, and I feel great. It seems that my hard work is useful. Now I do not think that I have any shortage, and I can do everything.

Know what is B1, B2 and B3

  • B1: This category is for blind players, who do not see at all or have no experience of light. It is mandatory to have B1 category players in the blind cricket team.
  • B2: In this category, players who appear a little light or some shape, but they are not completely blind. Their vision is very limited.
  • B3: The B3 category players have a slightly better than the B2 category players. They can see and identify objects to some extent, but their vision is not normal.
  • In blind cricket, all players get an opportunity to play according to their ability. Each team contains a mixture of B1, B2 and B3 category players, in which it is necessary to have at least 4 B1 category players according to the rules.

Durga said- teachers did not support Durga said- When I was selected in the district, I used to live in the blind welfare association hostel Indore. Teachers there did not support me at all. She used to say, ‘Hey, this is a similar game. What will you do in this? ‘ But some people of Cricket Association Bhopal supported me a lot. They used to take me to play the tournament.

Madam did not give holidays, then Sonu used to take the hostel holiday and the family’s permission. There was also a shortage of rupees, but I used to manage with my pension.

Initially, I could not focus on the ball. Then Sonu Golkar Sir told that focus on the voice. After this I focused on the voice, so my performance was good. I practiced continuously, and then it became possible.

Three national played, then selection happened Durga told that I played three nationals and a high score in the B3 category. After that I was selected in the Indian team. I do both batting and wicket -keeping. Durga says that she is focusing on her fitness till October. After this, we will camp for the World Cup.

Durga says that we should never give up. The problem should be ignored, no matter how many problems come.

Durga gets 50 percent blindness According to Durga, she has 50 per cent blindness. Due to this, she plays in the B3 category. It started with Indore Camp. She is younger in two sisters and a brother. Father does farming. Further, he has to make a future in cricket itself. The financial condition of the family is not very good.

Gold medal win at IBSA World Games India has last won the gold medal at the 2023 IBSA World Games. This time too, India is the host and strong contender. The 16 -member squad selected out of 56 players is Deepika TC captain of Karnataka and Ganga S Kadam vice -captain of Maharashtra. Sushma Patel and Sunita Sarathe are also included along with Durga from Madhya Pradesh.

Inter-dacoit in normal and visually impaired players In Betul, Durga’s coach Manoj Dahari says that there is a difference between normal players and visually impaired players. These people play with sound, so the ball is played by rolling the under arm in it. Initially, small shots have to be drilled, so that they can focus on the sound. Now we are focusing at their speed, so that they can react rapidly and perform better.
