The tournament is scheduled to begin in Bengaluru from August 28. Kuruvilla wrote, To maintain the status of the Dalip Trophy, all available Indian players are required to be selected in their zonal teams. Zonal convenors are requested to ensure that all available Indian players are selected for the Dalip Trophy.

If a player does not participate in domestic cricket despite being available, he will not be considered for selection, unless permission from the National Coach and the Chairman of the Selection Committee. The holiday will be given only on the basis of valid and solid reasons.
