1. Agni-5 successfully tested
On 20 August, India successfully tested its first inter-containntal ballistic missile Agni-5. It was tested on Wednesday at the Integrated Test range in Chandipur, Odisha.

- It is equipped with multiple independent targetable re-entry vehicle (MIRV) technology, that is, it can be launched at several targets simultaneously.

- The missile will be able to carry a 7500 kg bunker Buster Warhead and destroy the enemy’s nuclear system, radar system, control center, arms storage by going to a depth of 100 meters in the ground.
2. 5% and 18% slab of GST
The GST Council’s group of ministers has approved slabs of 5% and 18% of GST. Currently 4 slabs of GST are 5%, 12%, 18%, and 28%.

1. NTA released CSIR UGC NET 2025 Result
The National Testing Agency i.e. NTA has released the result of CSIR UGC NET 2025 for the June session on Wednesday 20 August. Candidates can go to the official website csirnet.nta.ac.in and see and download the scorecard.
The exam was conducted in CBT mode in 218 cities across the country on 28 July.
In this exam, the examination was registered by 1,95,241 candidates and 1,47,732 candidates took this exam. How to check the result-

2. The child was fired in a hostel in Jaisalmer
A member of the staff stained the child with a hot bars when a bed was wetting the bed while sleeping in a private hostel in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan.
The incident came to light when a child suffered more and he started bleeding, after which he ran away and the villagers rescued him and took him to his family.
The villagers and family members then protested outside the sarpanch’s house.
These hostels are in the Harpaleshwar Mahadev temple and operates from its trust. In which 25 children live. Children study in the Gurukul system. These children are part of immigrant laborers and families who come from very poor sections.
The police have taken the accused Anand Giri into custody. After this incident, such complaints of many children have also come up and marks have also been found on the children’s body.
