1. 17 children honored with ‘Prime Minister’s National Children’s Award’: President Draupadi Murmu honored 17 children with the Prime Minister’s National Children’s Award at Rashtrapati Bhavan on 26 December. This time 17 children from 14 states and union territories were selected for this award. These include 7 boys and 10 girls.
Children’s awards are given in 7 categories. This includes Art and Culture, Bravery, Innovation, Science and Technology, Social Work, Sports and Environment.
- This happened for the first time when the ‘National Child Award’ was given on 26 December instead of Republic Day. All the winners were given medals and certificates.
- National Children’s Award was started by the Central Government in the year 1996.
- National Child Award was started by the Ministry of Women and Child Development with the aim of honoring children who have achieved extraordinary achievements in different fields.
- Children who are below 18 years of age. Also, those who are citizens of India and live in the country. He is given this award.
- Children who achieved achievements in the field of bravery in the year 2018 were also included.
- These children, who have received the award since 1996, take part in the Republic Day Parade on Dutvapath (formerly Rajpath).
- Anish Sarkar, who lives in Kolkata, received the Prime Minister’s National Children’s Award. He is the youngest chess player in the world to achieve FIDE rating in November this year. Anish’s age is only 3 years, 8 months and 19 days.
- President Murmu gave the Children’s Award to Goldie Kumari of Nalanda, Bihar. Divyang Goldie has won gold and silver medals in the World Para Olympic Youth Games in Thailand.
- Saurabh Kumar of Sheikhpura district of Bihar received the award for bravery. 9 year old Saurabh had saved three girls from drowning in the pond.

2. IAS officer Arunish Chawla becomes Revenue Secretary: On December 26, 1992 batch IAS officer of Bihar cadre, Arunish Chawla was appointed Revenue Secretary in the Finance Ministry. Chawla is currently working as Pharmaceuticals Secretary in the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers. Amit Agarwal, Chief Executive Officer i.e. CEO of Unique Identification Authority of India, was appointed as the new Pharmaceutical Secretary.
Chawla has served as Additional Chief Secretary, Urban Development and Housing. He has also been the Managing Director of Patna Metro Rail Corporation.
- Apart from this, Manipur Chief Secretary Vineet Joshi has been appointed Higher Education Secretary.
- Neerja Shekhar, Special Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, will be the Director General of the National Productivity Council.
- Rachna Shah, Secretary in the Ministry of Textiles, has been appointed Secretary of the Department of Personnel and Training.
- National Minorities Commission Secretary Neelam Shammi Rao will be the new Secretary of the Textiles Ministry.
- Sanjay Sethi has been appointed Secretary of the National Minorities Commission.

3. Malayalam writer MT Vasudevan Nair passes away: Famous Malayalam writer and Jnanpith awardee MT Vasudevan Nair passed away on December 26. His age was 91 years.
MT Vasudevan Nair was also known as MT.
- He was a great writer, screenwriter and film director of modern Malayalam literature.
- He has directed 7 films and written the screenplays of about 54 films.
- He was awarded the National Award in the Best Feature Film category for the film Nirmalyam.
- He worked as a director in the films Bandhanam and Kadav.
- He started story writing with the Malayalam film Murappennu.
- His famous works include Naluket, Randamoozham, Varanasi and Spirit of Darkness.
- He was awarded the Jnanpith in 1996 and the Padma Bhushan in 2005.
- He was born in Palakkad, Kerala.

4. PM Modi launches ‘Suposhit Grampanchayat Abhiyan’: PM Modi participated in the nationwide celebration ‘Veer Bal Diwas Programme’ organized at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi today i.e. on 26th December. On this occasion, PM Modi launched the well-nourished Grampanchayat campaign.
Veer Bal Diwas program was organized to honor children as the future builders of the country.
- Veer Bal Diwas is celebrated every year on 26 December.
- This day is dedicated to the martyrdom of the four sons of the 10th Sikh Guru Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
- On January 9, 2022, the day of Prakash Parv of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the Prime Minister had announced that on December 26, ‘Veer Bal Diwas’ will be celebrated in memory of the martyrdom of Sahibzados Baba Zorawar Singh and Baba Fateh Singh, sons of Guru Gobind Singh.
- 10,000 Gram Panchayats were rewarded on the occasion of the launch of Suposhit Gram Panchayat Campaign.
- 50% of this prize money will be given to Anganwadi workers, helpers and Gram Panchayats. Along with this, the remaining 50% of the prize money will be given to be spent on nutrition level in Anganwadi centres.
- During this, a series of online competitions including quizzes were organized through MyGov and MyBharat portals.
- Also, many activities including story telling, creative writing and poster making were organized in schools, child care institutions and Anganwadi centres.

5. N Srinivasan resigns as MD and CEO of India Cements: On December 26, N Srinivasan resigned from the post of MD and CEO of India Cements. Srinivasan left his post after Aditya Birla Group company UltraTech completed the acquisition of promoters’ 32.72% stake (10.13 crore shares) in India Cements.
Along with Srinivasan, his wife Chitra and daughter Roopa Gurunath also resigned from the board.
- After the acquisition, UltraTech’s total stake in India Cement has increased to 55.49% (17.19 crore shares).
- Before this deal, UltraTech held 22.77% (7.05 crore shares) in India Cement.
- Last week, the Competition Commission of India (CCI) had approved this deal worth more than Rs 7,000 crore.
- After this acquisition, India Cements has become a subsidiary company of UltraTech Cement from 24 December 2024.
6. 13.41 lakh members joined EPFO in October, 2024: 13.41 lakh members have joined the Employees Provident Fund Organization i.e. EPFO in October, 2024. This information was given by the Union Ministry of Labor and Employment on Wednesday, December 25.
About 7.50 lakh new members joined EPFO in October, of which 58.49 percent were in the 18-25 age group. The total number of this young age group is 5.43 lakh.
- This figure is 16.23 percent higher on an annual basis compared to October 2023.
- According to payroll data, 12 lakh 90 thousand members withdrew from EPFO in October and rejoined in the same month.
- These members changed jobs and joined new jobs in the institutions covered by EPFO.
- He chose to transfer his deposited money instead of final settlement.
- Of the new members added during October, about 2.09 lakh are new women members. This is 2.12% more than October last year.
