1. Sixth Semiconductor Unit of the country was approved
The sixth semiconductor unit of the country was approved in a cabinet meeting held at the Prime Minister’s residence under the chairmanship of PM Narendra Modi on 14 May.
Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav gave information about the decisions taken in the cabinet meeting.
- This unit will be installed in jewelry in Uttar Pradesh for Rs 3,706 crore.
- HCL and Foxconn will jointly create this unit.
- The plant will have mobile phones, laptops, automabels, personal computers, and display driver chips for other display devices.
- 3.6 crore chips will be made every month.
- The India Semiconductor Mission was launched in 2022.
- Under this, 6 projects have been approved so far, whose construction work is going on fast.
- Students of 270 educational institutions and 70 startups are learning semiconductor technology through the latest tools.
2. Shubhanshu Shukla will go to International Space Station on 8 June
Under the Indian Astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla Axiom Mission 4, now the International Space Station (ISS) will go on 8 June. Earlier this mission was to be held on 29 May, but now the launch schedule has changed.
NASA informed about the change in the launch dates of the mission on social media ‘X’.
- The Axiaom Mission 4 will be launched from Kennedy Space Center in Florida at 6:41 pm (Indian time).
- Four Astronauts from four countries in the Axiom Mission 4 are going to visit the space station for 14 days.
- Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla has been selected for this mission under the agreement between NASA and ISRO.
- The crew of the Axiom 4 mission includes members of India, Poland and Hungary.
- Slavose Uznansky will be the second Astronaut of Poland to Space after 1978.
- Tibor Kapu will be the second Astronaut of Hungary to Space after 1980.
- This is the second commercial human space flight mission of Paigi Whitson of American.

1. UPSC exam calendar 2026 released
On May 15, Union Public Service Commission i.e. UPSC has released a calendar of examinations to be held in the year 2026. The Civil Service Prelims Examination will be held on May 24, 2026, while the Mains exam will start from August 21, 2026. The notification of UPSC CSE 2026 will be released on 14 January and the process of 3 February will begin.
The National Defense Academy (NDA) and Combined Defense Services (CDS) examinations will be held on April 12, 2026.
2. Himachal Pradesh Board 10th exam results released On May 15, Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education i.e. HPBOSE has released the result of 10th board examination. Saina Thakur, a student of Newgal Model Public Senior Secondary School in Kangra district, has topped the exam with 696 or 99.43% marks.

This year, 79.8% students have passed the 10th board examination. A total of 95,495 candidates had given the exam, with 75,862 passed. Compartments of 5,563 students have come. Apart from this, 13,574 students have failed, that is, they will have to study again in 10th.
3. JNU suspended Turki’s academic agreement with Inonu University On 14 May, Jawaharlal Nehru University i.e. JNU suspended the Academic Agreement with Inonu University of Turks. The university took this decision, citing concerns related to national security amidst Indo-Pak tension.
JNU gave this information on social media ‘X’.
In fact, a mOU was signed between the two universities regarding 3 February 2025 Faculty Exchange and Student Exchange. Its validity was till 2 February 2028. It included two major centers of JNU- School of Language, Literature and Cultural Studies (SLL & CS) and School of International Studies (SIS).
