Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB )’s IPL winning celebrations turned into a procession of death. The team defeated Punjab in Ahmedabad on Tuesday. On Wednesday, the team arrived in Bangalore to parade Victory. While 11 people died in a stampede outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium, 33 people were injured.
This was the third accident in the last 10 days in the sports world, when the celebration of victory changed into mourning. 9 days ago, the football team Liverpool in England celebrated the EPL winning. During which a 53 -year -old man got upset with traffic and offered a car on the fans. 109 people were injured by a stampede. On June 1, the Victory Parade occurred after winning the Champions League of the PSG football team in France, killing 2 and 190 people were injured.

1. 24 May 1964, 328 deaths in Peru
The Tokyo Olympic football qualifying match was going on between Argentina and Peru in Lima city of Peru. Peru’s players scored a goal in the last minutes in the match. Which the referee called wrong and did not give the home team a goal.
Angered by the referee’s decision, fans started violence. Police and stadium security tried to handle the case, but the crowd did not recover. The official said that 328 people died, including 2 policemen. This is considered to be the biggest accident in the game. The audience capacity in the stadium was reduced after the accident.
2. 1 October 2022, 174 killed in Indonesia
A football match was played between Arema Club and Parsabaya Surbaya at the Kanjuruhan Stadium. Most of the fans arrived at the Arma team in the stadium with 42 thousand spectators, but Parsebaya defeated the home team 3-2. For the first time in 2 decades, Arema lost to Parsabaya.
As soon as the final time, the fans of Arema entered the ground. He started throwing bottles at Parsabaya’s players and officials. Police used tear gas to handle the situation. Fans ran towards the exit gate fearlessly, causing a stampede. Fans set fire to 5 police cars outside the ground, stampede increased, in which 174 died.
3. May 9, 2001, 126 killed in Ghana
A football match was played between Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko at Akra’s Ohene Yan Stadium. The Oak team won the match 2–1, causing angry Kotoko fans to throw bottles in the field.
After the crowd, the police used tear gas. Fans scared of tear gas created a stampede. They started running towards the doors, but the gates were closed. Some people fainted with tear gas, the rest of the fans climbed up on them and started running away. Due to which 126 people died.
4. 15 April 1989, 96 killed in England
The semi -finals of the FA Cup were to be played between Liverpool and Nottingham at Sheffield’s Hillsboro Stadium. The audience reached the stadium more than expected to watch the match. In view of this, the security also opened the gate number-C, which was previously closed.
The audience ran from one side to the other as soon as the gate opened. Which caused a stampede. People started running to save their lives, but this increased the problem even more. Due to which 96 people lost their lives. 766 people were also injured in the accident. The match was canceled and the semi -finals took place next year.
5. March 12, 1988, Nepal
The match between Janakpur Cigarette Factory Club and Muktazodha Sangsad of Bangladesh took place at Dasaratha Stadium in Kathmandu. The winning team captured Tribhuvan Challenge Shield. During the match, the stadium started raining very strong with thunderstorms. The storm was so strong that people started running out of the stadium, which led to the stampede. In which 80 people lost their lives, more than 100 were also injured in it.
6. 1 February 2012, 74 killed in Egypt
The football match of Egypt Premier League took place between Al Mantri and Al Ahali at Port Saeed’s stadium. Al Mantri won the match 3–1, after which the fans of the team attacked Al Ahali’s fans. They attacked with stone, knife, bottle and firecrackers.
People ran towards the doors to avoid the attacks, but the security and police refused to open the gate. Due to which the stampede increased even more. 74 people lost their lives in this accident. The attitude of the police was expressed in many cities of the country, after which 9 police officers, including 47 people, were found guilty. Of these, 11 were sentenced to death.
7. May 29, 1985, 39 killed in Belgium
The European Club was finalized between Liverpul and Untus at the Hessel Stadium in Brussels. Even before the commencement of the match, the walls of Liverpul’s fans stuck and ran to attack the Uventus fans. Due to which the wall fell on the fans, 39 people died in the accident. Hundreds were injured there.
The shocking thing was that even after the accident, the match was played in the presence of 58 thousand spectators. Untus won the final 1-0. The accident was reported to the European Football Association (UEFA), who banned the English Club from participating in the European football tournament for 5 years.
8. 18 November 2009, 18 killed in Algeria
A qualification match was played for the 2010 World Cup between Algeria and Egypt at Alziors’ Football Stadium. Algeria won 1–0 match and made it to the World Cup. After the match, the audience started celebrating outside the stadium.
The traffic crowd caused traffic jam, due to which some car drivers carried out the fans. During this time some viewers were also celebrating by bursting firecrackers. Fireworks and car accident caused a stampede and 18 people died. 300 people were also injured in the accident.
9. 16 August 1980, 16 killed in India
A football match between Mohun Bagan and East Bengal took place at the Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata. Thousands of spectators from both teams reached the stadium. East Bengal defender Dilip Palit demolished Bidesh Basu of Mohun Bagan. After which both of them started debating, the referee also could not handle the situation.
The ground case reached the audience, who started throwing stones and bottles in the ground. Many fans started fleeing and stamped in the stadium. In which 16 people died. This is the biggest accident on sports grounds in India. RCB’s IPL victory also joined it.
10. 9 July 2006, 6 people killed in Italy
The Football World Cup final was played between Italy and France in Berlin, Germany. After the final time, the match was 1–1, Italy won 5–3 in a penalty shootout. As soon as he won the World Cup, fans in Italy took to the streets and started celebrating.
Italy won the Football World Cup after 26 years, due to which the feelings of a few fans gathered. People started fireworks in the city of Rome and Naples there. Roads were jammed. The police tried to handle the case with firing, but there was a stampede. Due to which 6 people died and hundreds were injured.
