11 new Kendriya Vidyalayas will open in Madhya Pradesh. The Economic Affairs Committee of the Central Government has approved it. After the approval of this committee headed by PM Modi, these schools will be started under civil and defense sector.

As an initiative, the Central Government is going to open 85 new Kendriya Vidyalayas across the country. At present there are 112 Kendriya Vidyalayas in Madhya Pradesh. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and Madhya Pradesh BJP State President VD Sharma have expressed gratitude to PM Modi for getting the new KV in the state.

VD Sharma said that this decision of Modi government will be helpful in providing better education to the students of rural areas.

Center promised to open 200 new Central, Navodaya Vidyalayas by 2024

There are a total of 1255 Kendriya Vidyalayas across the country. The number of Kendriya Vidyalayas in 2013 was 1092. In its manifesto ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, BJP had promised to open 200 new central, Navodaya Vidyalayas by 2024. According to the information given by the administration of Kendriya Vidyalaya in response to an RTI, 159 new Kendriya Vidyalayas were built in the eight years of the Modi government between 2015 and 2022.

In August 2023, a report of the parliamentary committee said that 235 Kendriya Vidyalayas in the country do not have permanent buildings. According to the report, land has been allotted to 184 out of 235 Kendriya Vidyalayas. Of these, 107 Kendriya Vidyalayas are under construction, while construction work has not yet started in 77.

According to the website of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, there were a total of 661 approved Navodaya Vidyalayas across the country till 31 March 2019. On 11 October 2019, Human Resource Development Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal inaugurated 5 new Navodaya Vidyalayas, laid the foundation stone of 9 new Navodaya Vidyalayas and 1 National Navodaya Leadership Institute.

In the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Committee meeting on 17 October 2019, Ramesh Pokhriyal agreed to open 45 more new Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs). In February 2024, PM Modi inaugurated another Navodaya Vidyalaya in Kangpokpi district of Manipur. Overall, the government’s promise of opening new KVs and Navodaya schools has been fulfilled.
